On a frigid New Year’s Eve in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a night etched forever in my heart, Sam poured out his soul to me in the most breathtaking way. We were surrounded by the warmth of my parents and Sam's best friend (and impromptu photographer) Wyatt Woodard. That night became the most unforgettable moment of our lives. We shared a heartfelt dinner at Geronimo, a beloved family favorite. As midnight approached, we moved to the vibrant downtown plaza, alive with anticipation, where the Zia ball was about to rise and fall.

Just ten minutes before midnight, Sam suggested we take a short walk. Thinking nothing of it we strolled hand in hand, we found a quiet spot at the back of the crowd, offering the most incredible view of the ball’s descent and the fireworks to be soon lighting up the night.

As the crowd erupted in cheers and chants, counting down the seconds to midnight, I noticed Sam’s deliberate movements. Suddenly, he dropped to one knee, and in that instant, my world stood still. Tears filled my eyes as he asked me to marry him. Through joyful sobs, I said, “Yes!” And in that magical moment, as if just for us, fireworks burst across the sky, lighting up the night as my deepest dream became reality. I turned to see my parents and Wyatt, their faces glowing with happiness as they captured every precious second.

Tears streamed down my face because I knew from the very first day I met Sam that we were destined for a lifetime together. Santa Fe is woven into our story—it’s a place that holds my heart, from childhood holidays and ski trips that made me feel like this city was my second home. Now, it’s even more special, a symbol of where our journey began.
